So, does this sound like a good idea...?

Yeah. When I don't like what's been saying in a thread I usually give my point of view. We are all behaving. We are intelligent, cult, researching people who like to talk about interesting stuff from time to time.

To me, those kind of "dangerous" threads (about politics, economics or religion) are way more interesting that those bunch of "I changed my avatar", "Look at this web page" or "Look at the pics of my new car" threads.

Anyhow, if you don't feel comfortable with a topic, just skip it. Attempting to coarse our freedom of speech is not a good policy. As I've always said, if someone is silenciated he or she gets upset. Always.

Quote:adigun+adosorken=BIG DEBATE!!!
Adigun and I have only warred over his own religious intolerance. On other subjects, there was never any conflict...in fact, I have offered to help him out on several of his projects, and Rhiannon even went as far as to offer him webspace for his site. Of course...he is not happy if conflict is not being stirred...thus, since no one fought with him when he made his few appearances after the war, he got bored and went elsewhere. There was a ton of BS being thrown around at the time about me targetting him, but in reality, he targetted me, because he knew I'd give him the fight he was looking for. I came to the realization that he needs this conflict to be happy, and once I figured that out about him, it allowed me to speak to him as a normal human being rather than some psychotic zealot. And since no one else was buying into his obvious flamebait at the time, he simply vanished. A powerful lesson was learned...when confronted by someone driven by the fires of anger, deny them the fuel and their fire will quickly die out.

TBN has spam, toasty forums where people can continue their debates(which get out of hands). Its just that we believe silencing someone isnt the answer. When someone enters the spam or toasty forums he knows that he is going to find all sorts of debates/flames etc... so if someone who doesnt want to see a fight can very well avoid it. But in case of QBN such threads are locked and sometimes even deleted which isn't good because the resentment will stay because they werent able to "get it out of their system"...

Admit it *nobody* likes being shutup :normal:. Yet it is a total waste of precious bandwidth to allow flame wars over religion

Speaking of TBN/Toasty/Spam Forum...TBN may be up and running by Monday...we're taking a different approach to how we're going to handle things this time, so we're coming back online quicker than we normally would...details to follow later... Smile

Everyone claims to be 'behaving', but it's not what I've been seeing. I wouldn't be spending a second of my time making a topic like this if I wasn't being offended

I have nothing against religious debates either, but what I am against is religious bashing.

We arent religion bashing. We are helping some people understand the principle of "Live and Let Live" and how to handle religion and science exclusively rather than mixing them up.

......I........ didn't say anyone in particular, Tbbq...... I'm surprised you even took place in a debate.

What I'm saying is, the overall point people are giving in their threads is fine, but on the way to getting that point established, they say the wrong things, and that's where the problem comes in.

No, I mean they state their personal opinions (which are sometimes very negative) as facts on the way to trying to emphasize their actual point, which is usually irrelevant.
