Quickhost.tk
#11
I've offered mirrors for some small QB/Art related things in the past, but if I might get a warning for doing so? Advertising Novix/TriBinary.

What now?

QuickHost.tk is hosted and made by the same people that brought QBasic.tk. so?

If we should go by that then Oracle shouldn't be an admin, cause he's advertising QBNZ, and Dav (example, no pun) shouldn't be allowed to post about his site, (being hosted at QBNZ?)

Now what?

EDIT: I just realized I could get a warning just for posting this, I named Novix, TriBinary and QBNZ, 2 are bad, one is good, guess which one.

Tell us again why Quickhost shouldn't be announced as news?

Whoah.

Just that...

That's what I call over-reaction. Sumo and Zap's service is something that I find really valuable for the community. Ideal for people to post demoes and WIP work.

I really can't understand why this post is bad. I am a news reviewer and this should be on the news section, but that's not the point. Daily I see people announcing their personal sites in the news section, and those posts approved. So is it fine to spam about personal sites with the nth copy of QBasic 1.1 and the nth copy of RelLib, and not fine to post (in the general section, he didn't even attempt to post it in the news section, what I see as a blatant act of humilty) about a useful service that a valuable and active member of the Qmunity kindly offers for free?

Then whoah, again.

I'm speechless this time :o

I'm beginning to see this as a demonstration of some hard feelings and bad mojo among QB-related sites. I always thought this was a colaboration, not a competition. The more, the merrier, they say. But now it seems to have became a war for forum posters.

Your post will be at the news section of TBN, Sumo.

I'm glad I stopped by just in time to find a good reason to insult Oracle again.

Oracle, you're an overbearing assclown with a hard-on for mod-priveleges. The internet is full of douchebags like you and no one likes any of them.

There. Said m'piece.

Thanks for everything na_th_an. Also, I'm glad I'm not the only one seeing things this way. And I'm still sorry the topic got ruined like this.

Anyway, Quickhost, use it if you need it (or even if you don't) leech away, it doesn't matter.

BUT BEFORE YOU GO THERE, YOU MAY WANT TO KNOW IT SAYS THE WORDS "QBASIC.TK" THERE.

Oracle is not a douchebag or an assclown, it's his forum and if he doesn't like the way someone does something he is entitled to say. Let face it how many forums like advertising of any kind? Its generally polite to ask before posting stuff like this and and oracle exercised his right to point this out(it wasn't obviously a qb site when you read the thread title); and notice he didn't delete it. There are plenty of sites that I know would have been doing some banning or deleting for this type of post!

1. As dark-prevail pointed out, it's not his forum, he's an admin.
2. I'm sure Oracle is using rule #6 to the fullest and most absurb extent.
2. This isnt advertising. It's offering a service to the general public.
3. It's a QB site. It's for people to upload and leech QB works. He visited the site.
4. He didnt delete it because it didnt break any forum rules. Had he done it this would have been much worse than the crap he posted. Spam, as defined in rule #4, doesnt fit this thread because it wasnt excessive nor of a commercial nature. It was also posted in the appropriate section (General), although this should be news, since it offers a service, and isnt propaganda like other threads in the News section.
5. If you think this type of thread is spam, then stay on other sites where people are banned and deleted for trying to be helpful to the community.
6. No one likes a kissass. Look a little beyond your nose and see the full story.

Agreed.

A forum is made by the members. Without members, admins have nothing to admin.

The most absurd thing is that this thread, as already stated, offers a service, while I can look at the other forums and see more than a few threads saying "go to my site"... I'm not against the "go to my site"s, cuz I think it's a good thing when people feel like creating a site, and offer something to share, I just don't get why this thread is suddenly pecked on for "spamming" a site...
