Lynn's Legacy. [DEMO 1]
#1
This wasn't intended to be released until the next QB Express came out... But cha0s really wanted it to go public. The game wasn't meant to have any demos until the final product, and I still think that would've been interesting to try, but... Some things you can't hold back forever.

This is a complete first demo of Lynn's Legacy, an action-rpg (ala Zelda 3) in development by me and cha0s. Cha0s handles all code-related aspects (fucking madman), while I tackle the graphics, music, and plot/manuscript.

The demo begins at the start of the game, and continues through to the end of the first dungeon, the dimension of Moenia. Throughout the demo, you will fight a small variety of enemies, avoid traps, collect keys and find treasure-- essentially a throwback to the style of the great action-rpgs of the late 80s and early 90s. At the end of the dungeon, you will face a boss: Grult, a ferocious, blind bat-like creature with multiple pairs of wings. If you can't figure out his weakness, there's always a hint in the readme, but...

Well, enough of that. Here's the link.

Right click-save as, otherwise it'll show it as garbled text. If it tries to save it as .htm, just rename it to .rar.

We've spent a lot of time on this demo... hopefully it shows.
They keys (also listed in readme) are as follows:

Arrow keys = Move Lynn
Left ctrl/Right ctrl = Attack (once you have a weapon)
Left alt/Right alt = Use item (once you have one)
Space bar = Talk/use/activate savepoint
Backspace = Cancel (used to cancel out of save screen)
F2 = Quit

Enjoy.
We'll be working our asses off in the meantime trying to make this a finished game in the future.

Just for perspective: the game, as fully planned in the manuscript, contains 8 full-length dungeons spread across four unique areas. The first dungeon, the one you see in the demo, is small. The dungeons (dimensions, rather) increase greatly in size and complexity as they progress-- all of them are already fully planned out, and some of the later ones sometimes reach sizes of roughly 5-6 times the size of the dungeon found in the demo.

All the graphics and music are all 100% completed. All dialogue is planned out. We've been working on this project for quite some time, and it's come time to piece it all together...
Once again, I hope this demo is enjoyable.

For some strange reason I can't download the file. Please use fileanchor or another alternative mirror.

I'm eager to try it.

Edit: Nevermind...it works! Will try it now

Yay! A action-rpg!!! Great. It's really cool and it's a pleasure to go around killing "strange creatures". I also like the feature to push blocks (in the cave). Well, I like it and I've just began playing!

Good work!

It goes crashy-crashy. Big Grin On the very first screen you can move on, if you move to the lower righthand side of the screen (right above the exit and to the right, in the corner of the trees), the game terminates.
